Saudi Arabia, the biggest buyer of Brazilian footwear in the Middle East, bought 1.48 million pairs from January to September, and the United Arab Emirates bought 1.27 million pairs, according to numbers released by the Brazilian Footwear Manufacturing Industry Association (Abical&ccedil;ados) this week.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia was the 11th leading importer of Brazilian footwear in the first nine months of the year, but the amount it imported was down 12% from the comparable period in 2015. Saudi imports amounted to USD 12.9 million, a 23.5% drop.<\/p>\n<p>The United Arab Emirates ranked 13th on the importers list, with a 10.3% drop in amount and a 27.6% drop in revenue, to USD 12 million. The average price per pair slid 19.3% from January to September from the comparable period of 2015. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the drop in sales to those two Arab countries, total exports from Brazil increased by 1.1% to USD 702.5 million, with total amount going up 0.5% to 86.9 million pairs. The average price per pair exported climbed 0.6%.<\/p>\n<p>In September alone, revenues from Brazilian footwear exports grew by 3.6% from September 2015 to USD 84.7 million.
