São Paulo – For the eighth consecutive month, the Leading Economic Index (IACE) for Brazil went up 1.3% from August to September, reaching 99.6 points. It had previously increased 0.2% in August and 2.2% in July. The IACE is measured in tandem by the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV\/IBRE) and The Conference Board (TCB) and aims to anticipate the direction of the Brazilian economy in the short term.<\/p>\n
“As well as in previous months, the weak performance of the index has been showing that the depth of the current recession demands a cautious analysis on the expectation variables that form the IACE. While the rate is signaling a recovery of the activity level, its evolution suggests that we are not yet experiencing a clear reversion of the cycle”, said Paulo Picchetti, researcher at IBRE\/FGV. <\/p>\n
