The estimate made public this Tuesday (10) by the National Supply Company (Conab) signals a crop result of 215.3 million tons of grains; in 2015/2016 the production reached 186.7 million tons.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported that Brazil could reach in 2017 the largest crop ever: 213.7 million tons of cereals, legumes and oil seeds. The forecasts, if confirmed, point to a crop that could be 16.1% larger than the previous year, which reached 184 million tons. The last production record took place in 2015 (209.7 million tons).

Conab uses the crop year in its forecasts, while IBGE uses the calendar year, consequently there’s a difference between the data of the two organizations.

*With information from the ANBA Newsroom.
