São Paulo – Camilo Santana, the governor of Ceará state, visited this week Oman and the United Arab Emirates, in an official trip to promote and seek investments for his state. He went to see, among other places, the Sohar Port, in Oman, and a desalinization plant in Dubai, built by Italian company Fisia Italimpianti and operated by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA).<\/p>\n

“The agenda in Oman was very productive. We presented the benefits that Ceará can offer to new investors and we have good partnership prospects,” said the governor to the state government’s website.<\/p>\n
Santana met with authorities of the local government at Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Muscat, on Monday (16). He presented to them the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém, the Export Processing Zone and Ceará’s Concessions Plan. Later, he went to the Sohar Port in the company of deputy minister of Transport and Communication of Oman, Said Hamdoon Saif Al Harthy. <\/p>\n
“Besides the advantages of our Pecém Complex, we presented information on the start of operations of CSP (Pecém Steel Company) and business opportunities in Ceará. We took the opportunity to get to know the management and structuring model between the Rotterdam Port and the Sohar Port, a partnership that’s being developed,” explained Santana.<\/p>\n
At the end, the delegation from Ceará visited the facilities of Vale Oman, the subsidiary of the Brazilian company. The governor met with the company’s CEO, Jamil Sebe, with whom he talked about the Ceará steel plant.<\/p>\n
In the United Arab Emirates, the governor visited the world’s largest desalinization plant. There’s a special interest in the project, since Ceará is having problems with droughts, especially inland. The plant’s capacity is 636,400 m³ of water daily and it has eight integrated desalinization units, plus a mineralization unit.<\/p>\n
Ângelo Rivino, regional manager of the Italian company, said to the delegation that Fisia Italimpianti is interested in investing in Ceará, both in building and operating a desalinization plant. In the next few months representatives of the Italian company are expected to visit the state to carry on negotiations.<\/p>\n
Santana’s agenda also included a visit to Iran, where he discussed with local investors about the building of an oil refinery in Ceará.<\/p>\n
