São Paulo – Companies from the agriculture sector of Algeria are interested in exporting their products to Brazil. Two companies recently contacted Algeria’s embassy in Brasília looking for Brazilian importers, aiming to be able to offer their products to Brazilian consumers.<\/p>\n

One of these companies is Mertrav. Based in Bir El Djir, province of Oran, north of Algeria, the company is planning to export dates, olive oil, couscous, pepper, peas, artichoke, zucchini and other vegetables, according to the embassy. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trésor de la Kahina, based in Khenchela, capital of the namesake province, has plans to intend to place its olive oil in the Brazilian market. <\/p>\n

“Importers interested in working with these type of products can contact these companies,” said Chafik Kellala, first secretary at the embassy of Algeria. According to him, an importer from Curitiba, state of Paraná, already has ongoing negotiations with one of them.<\/p>\n

Last year, Brazilians imported USD 1.62 billion in products from Algeria, a decline of 10% over 2015. Brazilian exports to the Arab country totaled USD 1.063 billion. Algeria traditionally holds a surplus in trades with Brazil due its to exports of oil and products.<\/p>\n
