The number includes all raw and processed chicken-based products. <\/p>\n<p>A press release quoted ABPA president Francisco Turra as saying that one of the reasons for the decline is the fact that April last year had seen the second-best poultry export numbers on record, at 421,000 tons. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;A reduced number of business days also detracted from the final monthly result. Moreover, there was the impact on international sales of misleading publicity from the Federal Police&rsquo;s bribery scheme probe Opera&ccedil;&atilde;o Carne Fraca, and markets that had banned imports of Brazilian product took a while to resume buying,&rdquo; Turra said. <\/p>\n<p>The industry had been posting upward numbers as the year progressed, but that changed when April was factored in.
