He holds a degree in Philosophy from Pontif&iacute;cia Universidade Cat&oacute;lica in Paran&aacute; (PUC-PR), a master&rsquo;s in Philosophy from PUC in S&atilde;o Paulo, and a doctorate degree in the same field from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and a PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. He translated Avicenna&rsquo;s &ldquo;The Origin and the Return&rdquo; into Portuguese, in addition to having written several books. <\/p>\n<p>The Persian physician and philosopher Ibn Sina (ca. 980 &ndash; 1.037 AD) was a seminal Middle Age thinker with widespread influence on philosophy, medicine and other fields of knowledge in the Arab and Islamic world as well as in the West. He wrote over 200 books on several topics, especially philosophy and medicine, most of them in Arabic. <\/p>\n<p>The lecture is an initiative of the S&atilde;o Paulo club&rsquo;s Arab Culture Center.
