The first five months of the year saw 49.1 million pairs of shoes shipped abroad from the country. The average price went from USD 7.56 per pair from January to May 2016 to USD 8.98 from January to May 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the growth, exports to Arab League countries sank by 34% according to the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services. Revenue stood at USD 16.5 million through May, down from USD 22.1 million in the first five months of 2016. Shipped volume was 1.9 million pairs, down from 2.5 million through May 2016, a 27% drop. <\/p>\n<p>The UAE was the leading Arab buyer of Brazilian footwear from January to May according to Abical&ccedil;ados. It ranked 16th at USD 5.7 million worth of imports, down 32.2% from January to May 2016, at 668,000 pairs of shoes shipped, down 25.5%. <\/p>\n<p>The leading importers of Brazilian footwear from January to May were the United States, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, France, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Australia and the United Kingdom, in that order. The USA imported USD 79.2 million worth of Brazilian footwear, slightly over one fifth of total revenue.
