São Paulo – Festival das Cataratas<\/em>, a tourism event opening Wednesday evening (28) in Foz do Iguaçu, will include an Arab-themed stand. The featured attraction is Na Segunda Lú Começa<\/em>, a blog where Brazilian-born journalist Lú Braga chronicles her day-to-day in Lebanon and writes about the Arab country’s connections with Brazil.<\/p>\n

The invitation for the blog to join the festival came from the Foz do Iguaçu City Hall. Lú Braga explained that the intention is to publicize Arab culture in a lighthearted way, using online-type language. The stand will be entirely Arab-themed and one of its goals will be to advertise Lebanon as a tourist destination for Brazilians.<\/p>\n

Lebanese-born and descendant entrepreneurs based in the Foz area will be there. The city is set in the state of Paraná, on the Brazil-Argentina-Paraguay border, and it is known for being home to a numerous Arab community. Many of the local business owners are of Arab descent. Beverage, electronics, décor, lighting and perfume industry players will be at the blog’s stand, according to Lú.<\/p>\n

The executives will be available for business meetings and their businesses will be featured on Segunda Lú Começa<\/em>, in interviews on economics and related subjects. Some of them will also have their own stands at Festival das Cataratas<\/em>. Lú Braga explains that over 50 caravans are expected to flock in, therefore the potential for deals will be strong. <\/p>\n

Festival das Cataratas <\/em>will welcome Tourism ministers from Portuguese-speaking countries, and Brazil’s own Marx Beltrão is expected to attend. Lú Braga hopes to interview them for her blog. She will write posts on the event and upload videos to the blog and social media pages on the fly.<\/p>\n

The festival will also feature other actions involving Arab culture, including candy giveaways and folk dance performances. An exhibit of photos taken by Lú Braga of the Brazilian Navy’s social responsibility work on an ongoing UN peace mission in Lebanon will be available in Festival das Cataratas<\/em>’s cultural area. <\/p>\n

Festival das Cataratas <\/em>is having its 12th edition this year. Tourism industry professionals from Mercosur countries come together for meetings at the event due to its location in Foz do Iguaçu. Festival goers include travel agents, tour operators, hotel industry players, tour guides, students and researchers. <\/p>\n

Besides the stands where products, services and destinations get advertised, the festival features activities such as a tourism fórum, e-marketing and Argentinian wine salons, sustainable product exhibits, a gastronomic arena, and training sessions. The event will take place at the Rafain Palace Hotel & Convention Center. Admission is free for some demographics, such as travel agents and tour guides. <\/p>\n
