Brasília – Commodity prices remained virtually flat in June. The Central Bank’s monthly Brazil Commodities Index (IC-Br) was down 0.02%, in June from May. The index slid by 4.63% in the 12 months through June and by 3.94% year-to-date through June. The IC-Br, which was made public this Wednesday (5) tracks variations in prices of internationally traded Brazilian commodities. <\/p>\n
June saw the prices of energy commodities (oil, natural gas and charcoal) decline by 0.9%, while those of metal commodities (aluminum, iron ore, copper, tin, zinc, lead and nickel) were up 1.68%. The costs of agricultural commodities (beef, cotton, soy oil, wheat, sugar, maize, coffee, rice and pork) declined by 0.35%. <\/p>\n
The United States-based Commodity Research Bureau’s CRB index was up 5.04% in June and by 1.65% in the 12 months through June. <\/p>\n
