São Paulo – In Q2 of this year, Vale’s pellet plant in Oman had a decline in output of 17.6% over the first three months of 2017. From May to June, the Brazilian mining company operations in the Arab country produced 1,900 tons of pellet, while the volume reached 2,300 tons from January to March of this year.<\/p>\n

The output decline occurred due to a scheduled maintenance that stopped one of the plant’s lines for 37 days in April and May. The information was made public by the company this Thursday (20).<\/p>\n

Oman’s output volume in Q2, however, was 5.4% higher than the one registered from April to June of 2016, when the plan produced 1,800 tons. Last year, the pellet production also declined due to a scheduled maintenance of 32 days during May and June. <\/p>\n

Considering Vale’s overall output in Q2 of this year, the volume reached 12,210 tons, down 1.7% when compared to Q1 2017, but up 21.5% in comparison to Q2 2016. The difference in the results between the quarters were caused by maintenance stoppages, both in Oman and in the company’s other plant in Fábrica, Minas Gerais.<\/p>\n

Iron ore<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vale’s overall production of iron ore from April to June of this year was 91,800 tons, a record figure by the mining company for a Q2. The volume was up 6.6% when compared to Q1 2017 and 5.8% when compared to Q1 2016. <\/p>\n
