São Paulo – The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and Brazil’s embassy in Algiers will organize the country’s pavilion at the Livestock and Agri-business Show (SIMA-SIPSA), to be held from October 10 to 13 in the capital of Algeria. Registrations are open to Brazilian companies interested in exhibiting their products at the pavilion.<\/p>\n
“Algeria is in a difficult situation due to oil’s lower prices and has been taken restrictive measures toward imports and been encouraging local production. In this sense, there’s incentives to agricultural production and that’s interesting to the agricultural machinery and equipment sector,” said the head of Apex’s office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Karen Jones, responsible for the agency’s participation in the trade show.<\/p>\n
It’s the first time that Brazil takes part in this expo, which had the first edition last year but it’s already the largest agribusiness show in Africa, according to the organizers. In 2016, the SIMA-SIPSA had 600 exhibitors from 45 countries and welcomed 18,000 visitors. The trade show is restricted to the sector’s professionals.<\/p>\n

Jones underscored that the event attracts not only Algerians, but people from throughout the region, thus it can serve as a business hub to do business with neighboring countries. “Even if it’s only institutional, our participation will be good to provide visibility and show Brazil’s interest in the market,” said the executive. According to her, the participation in the trade show is a development of the trade mission that Apex organized in April that visited North Africa.<\/p>\n
The Brazilian pavilion will have 54 square meters and room for five exhibitors. “It’s suitable to companies from the agricultural machinery sector with a focus on the developing of businesses in Africa,” pointed out Jones. Brazilian exports of agricultural machinery are trending up. They generated USD 486.81 million from January to July, a surge of 82.7% over the same period of last year, according to data from the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (ABIMAQ). <\/p>\n
