The French diplomat Anis Nacrour and the Brazilian researcher and holder of a doctor&rsquo;s degree Michel Gherman will speak on the subject and lead the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>According to information released by Sesc-SP, the goal is to hold a debate with the audience on the complex dialogue between the cultures and the individuals from the Middle East and the West, which is the key for better understanding the conflict underway in Syria for six years now.<\/p>\n<p>Nacrour holds a doctorate in Political Sciences from the University of Paris I &ndash; Sorbonne and currently is the first advisor of the European Union delegation&nbsp;in Damascus, Syria. One of his career highlights was serving as a political and security advisor to Tony Blair for the Middle East peace process between the years of 2007 and 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Gherman is the co-coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Center for Jewish and Arab Studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, besides holding a doctorate in Social History and a scholarship from the National Postdoctorate&nbsp;Program in the same university. He&rsquo;s also a researcher at the Studies Center of Politics at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>The debate is part of Sesc&rsquo; Contexts program, which includes activities focusing on cultural public policies, diversity, identity, culture economics, creative economy, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Registrations for the debate on Syria can be made on Sesc&rsquo;s website and prices range from BRL 4.50 (USD 1.44) to BRL 15 (USD 4.79).
