The amount is up 1.7% from September 2016. Year-to-date through September, passenger numbers were up 5.8% to 66.568 million. <\/p>\n<p>Dubai Airports reported that South America saw the biggest growth in September at 46.2%. Ths year, Emirates Airline started flying its S&atilde;o Paulo-Dubai route with an Airbus A380, thereby increasing its flight capacity. Besides S&atilde;o Paulo, it also flies daily to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and from there to Buenos Aires, Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>Other regions with major growth in passenger numbers were Eastern Europe, at 18.6%, and East Asia, at 15.7%. <\/p>\n<p>India remained the primary destination for DXB at 931,193 passengers, followed by the United Kingdom at 548,762 and Saudi Arabia at 536,187. City-wise, London was the top destination at 346,018 passengers, followed by Kuwait City at 213,717 and Mumbai at 182,697 passengers.<\/p>\n<p>DXB handled 33,134 flights in September, down 4.7% from September 2016. Year-to-date through September, the number of flights decreased by 1.9% to 307,683.
