{"id":58695,"date":"2017-11-10T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/escaesco.com.br\/lab\/anba\/arab-chamber-encourages-exports-from-maranhao\/"},"modified":"2018-04-04T01:33:30","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T03:33:30","slug":"arab-chamber-encourages-exports-from-maranhao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/arab-chamber-encourages-exports-from-maranhao\/","title":{"rendered":"Arab Chamber encourages exports from Maranh\u00e3o"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S&atilde;o Paulo &ndash; The <strong>Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> organized a meeting with business owners from the livestock sector this Thursday (9) in S&atilde;o Lu&iacute;s, Maranh&atilde;o, to encourage regional exports of live cattle and frozen beef to Arab countries.<\/p>\n<p><!--[{![cemb_9_715909_1]!}]--><\/p>\n<p>The state is the Northeast&rsquo;s second largest livestock producer, with nearly 7 million head of cattle, trailing only Bahia. In the meeting, a proposal for the creation of an exporting company of live cattle based in Maranh&atilde;o was presented, since currently this type of operation is done by neighboring states.<\/p>\n<p>The Arab Chamber&rsquo;s special projects advisor, Tamer Mansour, took part in the meeting and spoke about business opportunities between Brazil and the Arab countries. &ldquo;The Middle East is one of the largest importers of live cattle and beef from Brazil and this is a growing market,&rdquo; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Maranhense Port Management Company (EMAP), which manages the Itaqui port, in S&atilde;o Lu&iacute;s. The port&rsquo;s president, Ted Lago, attended the event and said that he plans to turn the place into an exporting hub from the region to the Middle East. <\/p>\n<p>Nearby states such as Mato Grosso, Goi&aacute;s, Tocantins and Par&aacute; also would benefit from the initiative by the Itaqui port, which has a prime location, as it is the nearest Brazilian terminal from an Arab country &ndash; Mauritania, in North Africa.
