Wheat exports from Brazil to Arab nations jump four-fold
This Thursday (2) in your ANBA Bulletin: Wheat exports from Brazil to the Arab nations have surged. Almost half of these agricultural exports from Brazil year to date through April went to Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sudan, and Egypt. The region stepped up its purchases by 326%. Overall exports from Brazil to the Arab market went up year to date through April. Sales grew by 29%, driven by high-priced commodities. The UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture was given to Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) Cultural director Silvia Antibas. The award was announced back in 2019, but she received it last week in Paris. And two Brazilian companies, Thermoceram and Ziggy, participated in a hoohah trade show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. |

An archaeological mission at the Bubastian cemetery in the Saqqara Necropolis uncovered a collection of 250 painted wooden sarcophagi and 150 bronze statues of Egyptian deities of different sizes, among other artifacts. Saqqara is located in the province of Giza, south of Cairo, Egypt. The discovery was made public on Monday (30) by Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which said the sarcophagi and statues dated back to circa 500 BC.

This Monday (30), historian and cultural director of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), Silvia Antibas, received the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture. The Brazilian was awarded in 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prize-giving ceremony was held only this year in Paris, France.

The show focused on the hookah sector World Shisha Dubai, which took place this month in the United Arab Emirates, rendered great contacts and deals for Brazilian brands. As a visitor to the show, Brazilian businessman Enio Alexsandro Cassiano, partner-director at Thermoceram, even closed deals with a distributor in Dubai. “The contacts we made at the show were incredibly positive. The best contact we had was at a meeting scheduled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber. We closed a representation deal in the UAE,” he revealed.

A survey by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) made public on Wednesday (1) shows that the rising raw material and input costs unexpectedly hit the manufacturing sector in March. According to the survey, the rising input and raw material costs exceeded the expectations of 71% of the companies in the extractive and processing industry and 73% in the construction industry.

Brazil more than quadrupled its volume of wheat exports to the Arab countries in the first four months of this year, advancing from 241,500 tonnes from January to April 2021 to 1.02 million tonnes in the same months of 2022, a 326% increase, according to information compiled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) based on data from the Brazilian federal government.

Brazil stepped up by 29.2% its revenue from sales to the Arab countries year to date through April, the Market Intelligence department of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) reported based on numbers of the federal government. Exports went from USD 4 billion from January to April 2021 to USD 5.2 billion year to date.

The Brazilian delegation in Qatar, headed by the Brazilian special secretary for Strategic Affairs, Flávio Rocha, discussed with leaders from the Arab country an expansion in trade and bilateral cooperation. Rocha was received by local authorities, and the business delegation accompanying him on the trip had among the activities on its schedule a visit to the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI). The mission is will also visit nine other Arab nations.

Brazilian exports of poultry genetic material grew 13.2% in the first four months of 2022 compared to the previous year, according to information released this Monday (30) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). The country shipped 5,100 tonnes. Revenue reached USD 54.6 million, up 19.3%.
