This Thursday (23) in your ANBA Bulletin: A report on how the world logistics has risen to the occasion to operate during the pandemic and maintain the supply of essential goods to the countries. In a webinar hosted by the Arab Chamber, experts from Brazil and elsewhere talked about how digitization and collaboration have increased in the sector in this COVID-19 scenario. The webinar got 700 viewers in Brazil and worldwide. And a story by our reporter Bruna Garcia on how Ramadan will be like during this atypical coronavirus scenario. With the mosques closed, Muslims will have the Iftar – or breaking of the fast – at home. Instead of offering meals, mosques will deliver staple food kits to people’s doors. And solidarity campaigns by the Arab Chamber during the pandemic. The organization is helping donating masks for children undergoing cancer treatment. It has also launched a campaign to raise more funds and make donations of protection equipment to hospitals. Our reporter Thais Sousa tells the story of Alyah Sweets pastry shops sells, which sells 80 kinds of Lebanese sweets. Its commercial director believes the business knack he got from his Lebanese parents is a way to make it through the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. And Cortag, a Brazil-based leading ceramic and porcelain tile cutters company, wants to sell to the Arab countries. The company made one-off sales to Saudi Arabia before.

São Paulo – World logistics have faced new challenges due to coronavirus, but it has quickly adapted to the new reality to maintain the supply, especially of foodstuffs, individual protection equipment and pharmaceutical products, to the countries. The sector has also used more digital mechanisms to operate. This is the view of Brazilian and foreign experts that talked on Wednesday (22) during an international webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

Covid-19 crisis led to increased collaboration

São Paulo – The novel coronavirus pandemic is leading to cooperation among different rungs in the supply chain and paving the way for countries to launch into new partnerships, particularly when it comes to logistics. This was one of the conclusions of the international webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce this Wednesday (22). The live stream got some 700 viewers in Brazil and worldwide, with simultaneous translation into Brazilian Portuguese and English.

With the mosques closed, Ramadan takes place at home

São Paulo – Mosques in Brazil and the world over are closed for the quarantine. Staying home to avoid infection by the novel coronavirus is the most important thing Muslims can do right now, even as the month of Ramadan kicks off next Thursday (23). Fasting from sunup to sundown is one of the pillars of Islam. Muslims are instructed to pray and break their fasts at home. The meals that mosques usually offer this time of year will be staple food kits delivered to people’s doors.

Cortag wants to make its way into Arab countries

São Paulo – Cortag, a Brazil-based leading ceramic and porcelain tile cutters company, wants to sell to the Arab countries. The company manufactures a wide range of products, such as manual tile cutters, plasterwork, electric cutters and equipment, accessories for assembling and finishing floor and porcelain tiles, wire pushers, hand tools, and others.

Deli negotiates its way through crisis, Arab style

São Paulo – Over 80 kinds of Arab sweets to choose from at one single shop in São Paulo. And the ingredients are not the only thing sourced from the Middle East at Alyah Sweets. According to the restaurant and pastry shop’s commercial director, Issam Sidom, more than ten people in the staff came straight from Lebanon to bake the goods. The place opened last November, the brainchild of a group of Lebanese entrepreneurs who were in the food business back in Lebanon, and it has shareholders in Brazil.

Arab Chamber launches campaign for donations against COVID

São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will help fight the new coronavirus with new donations. The organization has launched on Monday (20) a crowdfunding with an initial goal of raising BRL 80,000 (USD 15,000) from members, Arab and Brazilian companies, religious institutions, meat packers, certifying firms, and individuals. The money is intended to buy masks and coats as well as other individual protection equipment needed in this pandemic scenario.

Chamber helps donate coverings to hospitalized kids

São Paulo – Sírio do Bem, the philanthropy department at São Paulo, Brazil’s Esporte Clube Sírio, is donating cloth coverings to children undergoing chemotherapy. Each kid and mother or accompanying adult get matched-color coverings. A project supporter, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is earmarking some of the cash from a crowdfunding campaign spanning Brazil and the Arab countries.
