The Arab world through the eyes of Eduardo Kobra
This Thursday (28) in your ANBA Bulletin: Renowned Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra has painted murals in around 40 countries, including some Arab nations like the United Arab Emirates. “The Legend of the Arabian Horse” and tolerance are some of the topics of his works in the country. Our reporter Thais Sousa described a tour in the Ripe Market in Dubai. The visit reveals pleasant surprises like the booth of olive oil and foods from Palestine as well as a stand with typical cups for drinking Arab coffee by artist Hanan. And the Egyptian food industry has struggled to maintain the raw material supply in the current international crisis. So say representatives of the Egyptian private sector.

Ziggy to represent Brazil at World Shisha Dubai show

 | Ziggy will be the only Brazilian representative to participate in the World Shisha Dubai hookah show, on May 17 and 18, at the Festival Arena, in Dubai Festival City, at booth K12. The company sells essences for hookah made with tobacco, molasses, and flavorings, and its current goal is to enter new markets and become international. The Brazilian business recently started selling to its first international destination, Argentina.

Google will accelerate Algerian startups

In partnership with Google, Algerian startup public accelerator Algeria Venture launched earlier this week a startup acceleration program in Algeria. Called Boost Entrepreneurship Competencies, this program aims to accelerate 14 Algerian businesses from different regions of the country in the sectors of information and communication technology, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, logistics, education or even biotechnology.

4,500-year-old statuette of goddess found in Palestine

A stone statuette over 4,500-years-old was found by a Palestinian farmer working his land in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The statuette (pictured) depicts the face of Anat, one of the best-known Canaanite deities, goddess of love and war, archaeological authorities in the Palestinian city of Gaza announced Monday (25).

Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra has been working with street art for over 30 years and has painted murals in around 40 countries on five continents. In the United Arab Emirates, he crafted five large-format works. Currently, he has canvases on display at the Eden Gallery in Dubai and is receiving new invitations from the Gulf country and other Arab nations, such as Saudi Arabia.

Saudi government to buy 100,000 electric vehicles

The government of Saudi Arabia announced an agreement with American company Lucid Motors to buy between 50,000 and 100,000 electric vehicles (EVs) from the company over a period of ten years. According to information released on the Arab News website, the purchase is an effort by the Saudi government to diversify its fleet of vehicles and make it more environmentally friendly.

Downturn in demand affecting mineral exports from Brazil

The mineral industry in Brazil saw a drop in performance in the first quarter of 2022. The data was made public Tuesday (26) by the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), the entity that represents most companies in the sector in the country. Year on year, the output of 200 million tonnes stepped down 13%, while the revenue of BRL 56.2 billion (USD 11.4 billion) shrank 20%. Exports were down 22.8%.

São Paulo state government offers training on exports

Registration for companies is open until June 17 for a course on the international market offered by the São Paulo state government. The training will be offered by the state’s Economic Development Secretariat and Agency for Promotion of Competitivity and Investments (InvestSP), through the São Paulo Export Training Program, SP Export, and is aimed at startups, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. One hundred and fifty places will be offered in this edition.
