This Monday (29) in your ANBA Bulletin: The economy of the United Arab Emirates is expected to rebound due to the high COVID-19 vaccination rate and the preparations for hosting the world exhibition Expo 2020, which will take place from next October to March 2022. Centroflora, an extract and input manufacturing conglomerate in Brazil, will open a new plant in Botucatu, São Paulo, which will allow it to broaden and diversify its exports. And the ‘Tarikh al-Brasil’ show will portray the daily life of African Arab Muslims living in Brazil. The exhibit showcases pictures by Marcelo Schellini.

The São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) will open the exhibition on African Arab culture titled “Tarikh al-Brasil.” The works are by Brazilian photographer Marcelo Schellini. The show will open on Saturday, May 1st, at MIS in Jardim Europa, São Paulo. Admission is free.

Seven women are responsible for liaising between the Brazilian community and Brazil’s diplomatic representation in Ramallah, Palestine. They are the members of the Brazilian Citizens Council, an initiative of Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help connect government and the citizens who live abroad, and to plan out actions targeting these communities.

Brazil’s federal government expects BRL 260 billion (roughly USD 48 billion) to be invested in transport infrastructure works and projects through the end of 2022 via concessions to the private sector. The information was made public this Wednesday (28) by Infrastructure minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas.

The website “Eu amo o Líbano” (Brazilian Portuguese for I Love Lebanon), which sells items that somehow reference the Arab country since last May, launched an online course platform on April 15. “We felt the community would like this service, so we created a platform called Clube Eu Amo o Líbano,” the portal’s founder and businessman Luciano Aschkar told ANBA. His partner is businessman and publicist Gabriel Maluf Jacob.

The high COVID-19 vaccination rate and the Expo 2020 Dubai to be held later this year offer good prospects for the market of the United Arab Emirates. From October on, the country will host the world exhibition Expo that welcomes delegations from around the world and usually drives the economy of the countries that host it. The UAE have one of the highest vaccination rates globally, and this stimulates commercial activities.

The UAE’s Emirates Food Security Council approved the creation of the new ‘Climate Change Impact System’ to transition to more sustainable food systems. State-run news agency WAM reported that the country is getting ready to take on the potentially negative impacts of ongoing global warming.

Dubai, UAE-based multinational logistics company DP World handled 18.9 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) at its container terminals around the world in the first quarter of this year. Gross container volume was up 10.2% year-on-year.

Qatar is in talks with Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers to ensure all travelers attending the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be immunized. “Right now there are programmes under development to provide vaccination to all the attendees of the World Cup,” foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said during a virtual conference.

UAE to include new sectors in 100% foreign ownership law

The United Arab Emirates is working on a legislation to include ten new sectors under its commercial companies’ law, which allows for 100% ownership of onshore entities in the country, undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade and Industry Abdullah Al Saleh revealed at the 7th edition of Sharjah Economic Ramadan Majlis last weekend.
