FUNAG president Márcia Loureiro visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and discussed with its leaders activities that could bring Brazilians and Arabs closer together in topics such as diplomatic history and international relations.

And the Arab International Investor Forum will take place in Paris, France, bringing together heads of sustainable project and investors. The organizers of the event opened a space for Latin America. Registration is open for the awards.

FUNAG to bring Brazil closer to Arabs in diplomatic topics

The Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) plans on bringing Brazil and the Arab countries closer together for discussions and research on diplomatic history and international relations. FUNAG president and ambassador Márcia Loureiro visited the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in São Paulo on Wednesday (6) and discussed the matter with ABCC president and diplomat Osmar Chohfi and International Relations vice president Mohamad Orra Mourad. FUNAG and the ABCC could work together to achieve these goals.

Lebanese Brazilian a member of São Paulo Academy of Letters

Brazilian author and psychanalyst Betty Milan, a granddaughter of Lebanese grandparents, took over a chair at the Academy of Letters of São Paulo last Wednesday (31). The inauguration took place in the headquarters of the academy at Largo do Arouce in São Paulo. Milan is the first psychanalyst to ever hold a chair in the association and joined a group of four other women in the academy.

Partnership facilitates research in immigration collection

The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) Library in Lebanon announced a partnership with the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies of the North Carolina State University (NC State) in the USA, which will facilitate research in the digital collection on Arab immigration in Latin America housed in the library. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology will be used to search the collections’ journals, written in Arabic and published in Latin America by immigrants from the 19th century onwards.

Brazilians reach deals for USD 8.7 million in show in Dubai

The participation of Brazil-based companies in APLF, a leather and fashion industry show that took place in Dubai from March 30 to April 1, allowed them to achieve business agreements for USD 8.7 million. Egypt to supply 6 mn tons of local wheat

Brazil’s Petrobras ends month with refinery usage at 91%

Brazilian oil company Petrobras reported this Monday (4) it reached 91% of the total capacity of its refining parks in the last week of March 2022. The average load considering the whole month was 89%. According to the company, in 2021, Petrobras’ refineries’ average utilization level was 83%, the highest in the last five years.
