A scholar of migrations in literature

This Thursday (11) in your ANBA Bulletin: The Brazilian academic, writer, and poet Leonardo Tonus. Professor for 20 years at the Sorbonne, he is dedicated to researching and spreading the literature of immigrants and their similarities. The literary production of Arabs in Brazil is among the themes of Tonus' studies.

Brazil is training new agricultural attachés to work in embassies and diplomatic missions. Most professionals will replace attachés who are finishing their terms, including in the Arab countries Egypt and Morocco. 

Egypt’s non-oil exports grew 20% in revenue in the first half of this year over the same period in 2021 and stood at USD 19.3 billion. Chemicals and fertilizers were among the highlights.

Professor Dr. Leonardo Tonus is a scholar, writer, and poet who, amid his studies in literature, found the migration issue a theme to which he would end up dedicating himself for many years, until today. For 20 years, he has been a professor at Sorbonne in Paris, studying and teaching Portuguese-speaking literary production, mainly Brazilian and of immigrants of different nationalities to Brazil — including the tremendous literary output of the Syrian-Lebanese community in Portuguese — and French literary production, including authors from Arab countries in North Africa. He bridges these migratory flows in his classes, lectures, books, and projects.

Brazilian agricultural attaché candidates have been participating since Monday (8) in Brasília in a preparation course for their missions. Those selected will take up positions in Colombia, Egypt, Morocco, the European Union, and Angola.
