This Wednesday (22) in your ANBA Bulletin: the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is organizing a lecture series starting tomorrow (23) at Vale do Itajaí  University (Univali), in Santa Catarina, on subjects relating to Arab markets. The first speaker will be the Chamber's CEO Michel Alaby (pictured above), who'll discuss the cultural side of deal-making between Brazilians and Arabs. The Chamber opened an office in Itajaí, a city with a port in Santa Catarina. “We are trying to get closer to academia and local business owners to instill in them the importance of foreign trade, especially with the Arab countries,” said Alaby.

Attorney Mariana Vicentini Taylor, who specializes in intellectual property, spoke at the Arab Chamber headquarters in São Paulo. She explained how Brazilian enterprises can register their trademarks in other countries. “[Registering a trademark] ensures the owner exclusive use of a brand for specific goods and services,” she said.

And Algeria's Ministry of Public Works and Transport is inviting Brazilian building companies to join the 16th International Public Works Exhibition from November 21 to 25 in Algiers. “Algeria boasts a stable economy and its government is planning to invest heavily in infrastructure projects, such as the building and renovation of ports and airports, road reconstruction and the building of the Trans Sahara Highway,” said Algeria's ambassador to Brasília Toufik Dahmani.
