This Thursday (5) in your ANBA Bulletin: Representatives of the dairy industry of Minas Gerais, Brazil, met in an online event earlier this week to discuss the Egyptian market. Experts say there’s room for dairy products from Brazil in Egypt, particularly value-added goods, and the tariffs of Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement benefit sale. A huge mural was created in Beirut by artists from Brazil and Lebanon. Brazilian duo Tereza de Quinta and Robézio Marques developed the work in partnership with Lebanon’s RenoZ. The 540-square-meter mural is located in the neighborhood of Hamra. Apex-Brazil will take Brazilian startups on a mission trip to Dubai during the Gitex trade show. Tunisia launched a platform to help rural female entrepreneurs sell their products. And the Saudi youth is using less cash.

Artists from Brazil and Lebanon create huge mural in Beirut

Brazilian duo Tereza de Quinta e Robézio Marques, who make up the duo Acidum Project, are in Lebanon for an art itinerary. Their main work in the Arab country was developed in partnership with Lebanese artist RenoZ. The huge 540-square-meter mural was unveiled on July 30 and is located in the neighborhood of Hamra in the capital city of Beirut.

A group of 10 Brazilian startups will go on a mission to the United Arab Emirates in October. Applications are open until this Wednesday (4) for companies interested in participating in the initiative, organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and Dubai Chamber.

Brazilian research targets retinal-scan test for COVID

Brazilian researchers managed to detect the coronavirus in retinae for the first time. The study can contribute to better understand the dynamics of the virus and the sequelae in infected patients. The research is led by the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) with funding from Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Olympics: With two golds, Qatar is in 25th place

Qatar is the Arab country with the best performance in the Tokyo Olympics, in 25th place, according to the official table, until 8:00 pm UTC this Monday (2). On Sunday (1), Qatari athletes won two gold medals and started the count for the country in the general ranking. The country has no silver or bronze medals so far.

Investments in Brazil up in May

Investments were up 1.6% in Brazil in May from the previous month. Year-on-year growth reached 0.5%. The figures from the Monthly Indicator of Gross Fixed Capital Formation (FBCF in the Portuguese acronym) were made public on Monday (2) by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA). The indicator comprises purchases of machinery and equipment, construction, and other fixed assets. It’s an indicator of the country’s productive capacity.
