This Wednesday (8) in your ANBA Bulletin: model and TV host Ana Hickmann's product line will be licensed and sold in 18 Arab countries. Her company entered into an agreement with Egyptian importer Mowafak Refaat Afifi on Tuesday (7) at the offices of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo. Afifi has been selling the eyewear brand in his country since 2009. “My nickname in Egypt is Mowafak ‘Ana Hickmann.’ I was the one who brought the brand into the country. No one knew about it, and now we have waiting lists,” he told ANBA's Bruna Garcia. Ana Hickmann-branded items include clothing, lingerie, purses, cosmetics, perfumes and shoes.
And Tuesday in São Paulo also saw an event held by the Sharjah, UAE-based Nama Women Advancement Establishment. Four of the emirate's fashion and jewelry brands paraded their collections. The organization, which supports women in business, invited female Brazilian entrepreneurs to join the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC). “Cooperation is crucial to success and mutual support is the beginning of a wider horizon,” Nama director Reem BinKaram said. And the Middle East was the leading export destination for Brazilian meat packer Minerva in the 12 months through June. Some of the beef originally due for shipping to Russia went to that region instead, after the former country banned Brazilian meat. Saudi Arabia's Salic owns a 20% stake in Minerva.

São Paulo – Footwear exports from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates totaled USD 6.46 million from January to July, a decline of 17.4% over the same period of last year. In all, 685,000 pairs were exported, down 20%.

Aqaba, Jordan – The city of Aqaba, in Jordan, welcomed 477,000 tourists in H1 this year, up 56% from 306,000 visitors in H1 2017, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) chief commissioner Nasser Shraideh was quoted this Tuesday (7) as saying.
