Arab countries still a priority for BRF

This Thursday (10) in your ANBA Bulletin: a story on Brazilian food company BRF's plans for the next decade, which include aggressive overseas expansion and higher value-added food production. During a press conference earlier this week, Global CEO Lorival Luz said Arab and halal markets remain among the company's priorities.

Arab countries have been overtaken by Asia as the biggest market for poultry from Brazil. In addition to bigger imports by China, this was a result of domestic production incentives in Saudi Arabia and plummeting tourism across the Arab countries, which led to weaker demand, industry association ABPA said.

Arab countries' coffee imports from Brazil were up 13% year-to-date through November this year. And Brazil's footwear industry exports picked up by 13.8% in November.

Also featured in ANBA: a children's book on Arab immigration is out, and a live stream this week addressed the role played by Arab and Brazilian women in community development.
