This Monday (13) in your ANBA Bulletin (13): The book Why do You Dance When You Walk? by Abdourahman Waberi of African Arab country Djibouti is launching in Brazil. Previously unpublished in Brazil, the novel is set in the country of origin of Waberi and will be launched by publishing house Tabla. After Expo 2020 Dubai ends in late March 2022, the venue hosting the exhibition will be transformed into District 2020, a human-centric city with distances of up to 15 minutes on foot or by bicycle. And Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro delivered the Rio Branco Order insignia to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce last week.

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, handed over the insignia of the Order of Rio Branco to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in a ceremony at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasília this Wednesday (8) evening. He placed the insignia on the institution’s flag in the presence of ABCC president ambassador Osmar Chohfi and chairman Marcelo Sallum.

Expo 2020 Dubai to be transformed into city of the future

Imagine living in a sustainable city that consumes less power and is focused on the well-being of people who can easily cross distances of up to 15 minutes to get to their homes, workplaces, markets, pharmacies, entertainment venues and all daily activities on foot or by bicycle. That is the proposal of District 2020, the legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai that will start turning into a neighborhood-city as soon as the exhibition ends in late March 2022. The district is set to keep growing throughout its phases so that within 30 years it will be home to 150,000 residents.

Book by Djiboutian author launched in Brazil

Publishing house Tabla will launch a new novel in Brazil. The company that specializes in books by Middle Eastern authors is bringing a novel by Abdourahman Waberi, who was born in Djibouti. Why Do You Dance When You Walk? is set in Waberi’s home country and tells the story of the childhood of the main character, who would later move to Paris, France. The book was originally written in French. Djibouti is an African francophone country. Located along the Red Sea, the country borders Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea. The book was translated by poet and sociologist José Almino, who has just joined the team of translators of Tabla.

Coffee exports from Brazil reached USD 5.4 bn year to date

Brazilian coffee exports reached USD 570.6 million in revenue in November. From January to November 2021, the accumulated revenue was USD 5.4 billion, a 5.9% growth compared to the same period in 2020. The shipped volume declined by 10% in the first 11 months of the year, totaling 36.6 million 60-kg bags. Data are from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé), released this Friday (10).
