Dates from UAE expand presence in Brazil
This Monday (19) in your ANBA Bulletin: Dates grown in the United Arab Emirates are sold in Brazil’s supermarket chain Sam's Club. The Date Crown products are by company Al Foah, and the deal was closed though its representative in the Brazilian market Julia de Biase (pictured above). Brazilian agribusiness stepped up its exports to the Middle East and North Africa in November And Morocco will host the FIFA Club World Cup in February 2023. Brazil’s team Flamengo will play.

The United Arab Emirates purchased 410,069 tonnes of poultry protein from Brazil from January to November this year, a volume 19.2% higher than the accumulated result for the eleven months of the previous year. The country appears in second place among the leading importers of Brazilian poultry, behind only China, which consumed 494,120 tonnes in the period, down 16.2%. Data were released by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) this Thursday (15).

The Sam’s Club warehouse club, which has stores all over Brazil, now sells Khalas dates from Date Crown, a brand by Al Foah, a company based in the United Arab Emirates. Sam’s Club was sold to the Carrefour Brazil group in mid-2022, and supermarkets of the Carrefour chain have already been offering the Arab dried fruit since May. The deal was closed by Al Foah’s representative in Brazil, Julia de Biase.

Morocco will be the host country of the Club World Cup next year, the FIFA Council Meeting announced Friday (16) in Qatar, where the World Cup 2022 is taking place. The Federation has also announced the tournament will take place from February 1 to 11.

Middle East steps up imports from Brazilian agribusiness by 53%

Brazilian agribusiness increased exports to the Middle East by 53.2% this November compared to the same month in 2021. Sales to Africa, where some Arab countries are located, also grew 39.2% in the same comparison, according to data released by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA).

A rocket launch from Alcântara launch center in northern Brazil marks the beginning of the public-private partnership to make small-satellite launches between the Brazilian government and South Korea’s aerospace startup Innospace. The launch of the first rocket manufactured by the South Korean company is expected to take place Wednesday (21).

Among extractive and manufacturing industries in Brazil, of the 9,400 companies with over 100 workers, 70.5% innovated last year. The information is in the 2021 Half-yearly Innovation Survey (PINTEC): Basic Indicators by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Innovation is considered to be the introduction of some new or substantially improved product or the incorporation of a new or improved business process for one or more business functions.
