Brazil-Arab countries: record and modernization in 2022

This Thursday (22) in your ANBA Bulletin: Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) president Osmar Chohfi took stock of Brazil-Arab relations in 2022 in an interview. This year, the ABCC turned 70, expanded the use of its electronic customs clearance system, held the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries, started a project focused on halal and helped Brazil-Arab trade hit a record high.

Trees were planted by the Embassy of Bahrain in Brasília to celebrate national dates. And Brazilian Foreign Trade Association forecasts a higher trade surplus in 2023.

Alexandria hosts exhibition on Brazil’s Dom Pedro II

People in the city of Alexandria can visit until January 17 an exhibition that includes photographs about the trip of Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II to Egypt in the nineteenth century. The show “Back to Egypt: A Brazilian Collection of Photographs” showcases 91 images with information on the trip, as well a video that presents the collection of 300 photos. The exhibition takes place in the East Exhibition Hall of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center. Entrance is free.

Chohfi: 2022 was a year of records and modernization

A record-setting trade, more meetings between Brazilians and Arabs, a significant step towards the halal market, and the modernization of commercial transactions. These were the landmarks of 2022, the year when the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) turned 70, according to its president, diplomat Osmar Chohfi. Just a few days before the end of the year, Chohfi took stook of the achievements over the period and said he expects even more from Brazil-Arab relations in 2023.

The Embassy of Bahrain in Brasília planted trees in the Botanical Garden of the Brazilian capital on December 16 to celebrate two national holidays of the Arab country. December 16 celebrated the anniversary of the modern state of Bahrain, founded in 1783 by Ahmed Al Fateh, as an Arab and Muslim country. The date also marked the accession of the current monarch, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. December 17 was Martyrs’ Day, which honors the sacrifice of those who fulfilled their national duties, inside and outside the country, in the civil, military, and humanitarian spheres.

Brazil could have higher trade surplus in 2023

A projection released this Tuesday (20) by the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association (AEB) indicated the country could have a more increased trade surplus next year, despite expected drops in imports and exports. AEB projects a positive trade balance of USD 71.9 billion for Brazil in 2023, 14.3% higher than USD 62.9 billion in 2022.

Egyptian food companies target Saudi market
