Brazilian holiday dinners include Arab ingredients
This Thursday (29) in your ANBA Bulletin: Foodstuffs produced in Arab countries can be found at holiday dinners in Brazil. Products from nations like Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia arrive at the table of Brazilians for the festivities. Import volumes in November grew 55%.
Professor Roberto Khatlab pens an article in which he reports the surveys he carried out that led to names that could be the first Lebanese who emigrated from Lebanon to Brazil and the first one who returned to Lebanon.
Another article presents theses pointing to the Arabic language as the one that gave rise to others. The text is by Ambassador Qais Shqair, head of the Arab League Mission to Brazil.

As many Mount Lebanon natives did after him, Joseph Ibrahim Nehmé left his lands for Rio de Janeiro in the late 18th century. In contrast, Lebanese-Brazilian Jacob Menassa made the return journey to his country of origin, Lebanon, in the early 19th century, after living in Brazil. At the time, Lebanon, in the geography of the Ottoman Empire, was the mountain range of Mount Lebanon. These two men, Joseph and Jacob, are among the first who made the immigration and return from expatriation movement between Brazil and Lebanon, according to research based on records.
