International trade essential for development
This Thursday (10) in your ANBA Bulletin: The lecture given by the president of the New Development Bank, Marcos Troyjo, in a webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. The economist spoke on the main trends in international trade, such as its importance for the development of countries and the relevance emerging nations are gaining in the global framework.
At the same event, the Arab Brazilian Chamber presented its schedule of initiatives for 2022, the year in which it will have a special program to celebrate its 70th anniversary. Business missions, lectures, new technological tools, among other initiatives, are planned; the highlight will be the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum in July.
Brazilian beef and poultry exports to the Arab countries had outstanding performances. Egypt quadrupled its beef purchases from Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates doubled its poultry purchases.
Brazilian Zana Bonafe was selected to join a writers fellowship support program in Dubai, in the UAE. Morocco has resumed international flights after a few months with closed borders to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) has developed a special program focused on new forms of connection and new technologies in the year it celebrates its 70th anniversary. The highlight of the 2022 program will be the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries to take place on July 4 at the Hotel Renaissance in São Paulo. The hybrid event takes place every two years and is a great opportunity for business and networking interactions, as it brings together business people and officials from the Arab countries and Brazil. Over 400 people are expected in the in-person event and 2,600 in the virtual environment, livestreamed to all Arab countries.

Egyptian company Mashreq for Business Development has ambitious plans to enter more global markets this year by launching new products under the Bab El Sham and Bloom brands. Abdul Rahman Maghazi, the company’s export manager, said for 2022, he expects a boom in the local and export markets due to product innovations. The company intends to participate in a show in Brazil.

International trade is crucial for the development of the countries and has been the driving force behind the world’s strongest economic rises over the last seven decades. So said on Tuesday (8) Brazilian economist Marcos Troyjo (pictured above), president of the New Development Bank (NDB), in a webinar on the international trade outlook held by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). The webinar got some 340 viewers from Brazil and elsewhere.

Palmeiras defeated Egypt’s Al Ahly 2-0 and booked their place in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup. The games are held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where the green-clad Palmeiras fans occupied the bleachers of the Al Nahyan Stadium to watch the game against the Egyptians. Al Ahly will play off for third place on Saturday (12).

Brazil almost doubled poultry protein exports to the United Arab Emirates in January. The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) highlighted the increase in sales to the Gulf country in the balance of exports for the month, which had China as the leading destination.

Egypt’s beef imports from Brazil jumped fourfold in January. The Arab country imported 18,851 tonnes from Brazil, up 318,7% from 4,501 in January 2021, meatpacker association Abrafrigo reported based on data compiled by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy of Brazil.

Brazil’s Zana Bonafe was selected to be part of the First Chapter – The ELF Seddiqi Writers’ Fellowship, a support and development program for emerging authors living in the United Arab Emirates and the surrounding region. Dubai-based, Bonafe was chosen together with nine other people and will participate in a year-long writing mentorship project that could lead to the publishing of a book.

Morocco reopened its air borders this Monday (7) after about three months without receiving international flights due to the pandemic of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, as announced by the Moroccan government in late January.

Brazilian vehicle exports grew 6.6% in January over the same month in 2021, according to data released this Monday (7) by the Brazilian National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (ANFAVEA). 27,600 automobiles were exported last month, against 25,900 in January 2021. However, there was a decrease in the exported volume compared to the previous month, December 2021, 33.5%.

Brazil-based oil company Petrobras announced on Thursday (9) it met all its output goals established for 2021, posting several record numbers, including pre-salt results, with an annual average 1.95 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, accounting for 70% of the company’s total output.
