Arab Chamber strengthens operations in Egypt
This Thursday (20) in your ANBA Bulletin: Stories from Cairo, Egypt, where the secretary-general of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Tamer Mansour, was in recent days. He met with Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for American Affairs, Mahi Hassan Abdel Latif, to discuss strengthening cooperation. Mansour also spoke about the start of activities at the new Arab Brazilian Chamber international branch office in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.
The new Jordanian ambassador to Brasília, Maen Masadeh, visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber headquarters in São Paulo. He took office in September 2021.
Soraya El Khatib, an entrepreneur of Lebanese descent, CEO of startup S Cosméticos do Bem, was the first woman to win the Entrepreneur of the Year award from UNICAMP.

Jordanian ambassador to Brazil discussed cooperation

The new Jordanian ambassador to Brasília, Maen Masadeh, is in São Paulo and visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) headquarters this Tuesday (18). Masadeh took office in September last year, and this is his first trip to the capital of São Paulo, where he will meet with companies and associations in the coming days. At the ABCC, Masadeh discussed cooperation and diversification of the trade agenda.

Arab Brazilian Chamber seeks more cooperation with Egypt

The secretary-general of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), Tamer Mansour, met with Ambassador Mahi Hassan Abdel Latif, Egypt’s deputy foreign minister for American Affairs, to discuss strengthening cooperation between the ABCC and the Ministry. The goal is to boost investments and increase trade between Cairo, the capital of the Arab country, and São Paulo, Brazil’s central economic hub. Also present was Michael Gamal, regional director and head of the ABCC’s office in Cairo.

Arab Brazilian Chamber branch in Egypt to open in February

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is putting the finishing touches to its office in Cairo in preparation for starting local operations next month. The opening of an office in Cairo was officially announced in the presence of Hamilton Mourão, vice president of Brazil, and Nevin Gamea, ministry of the Industry of Egypt, in late September.

Soraya El Khatib’s Lebanese entrepreneurial roots

With entrepreneurship in her DNA, Lebanese descendant Soraya El Khatib began her business career incredibly early, more precisely at the age of five. As a child, she mixed her mother’s perfumes to create fragrances, painted t-shirts, made sachets, developed plays, and sold tickets to support herself.

Saudi Arabia opens world’s first camel hotel

Saudi Arabia has recently opened the world’s first camel hotel. Called Tetaman (or “Rest Assured,” in English), it has 120 open-air rooms in the desert, 50 employees, and offers several services, such as bathing and grooming, food, and safety.

Brazilians grossed USD 2 million at coffee event in Dubai

The first edition of the World of Coffee trade show that took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, led to USD 2.63 million in deals for Brazilians. The event featured nineteen Brazilian specialty coffee enterprises taken by the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA).

Coffee exports from Brazil to Arabs down in 2021

Coffee exports from Brazil to the Arab bloc were down by 25.1% in 2021 year on year. The volume shipped reached 1,603,204 60-kg bags, fetching USD 209.8 million, down 3% from 2020, the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé) reported on Monday (17).

Brazil reached record-breaking USD 1 bn in fruit exports

The Brazilian fruit sector broke a record by reaching USD 1 billion in exports in 2021. The country shipped around 1.2 million tonnes of fruit to the global market, a volume 18% higher than the previous year. Revenue reached USD 1.06 billion, up 20% in the same comparison. Data is from the Brazilian Association of Exporting Producers of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas).

Saudi Exports launches institutional transformation plan

Saudi Export Development Authority (Saudi Exports) announced the launch of its institutional transformation strategy. The authority’s new strategy is to boost the participation of non-oil exports from 16% to at least 50% of the gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the country’s sources of income.
