Mohammed Darwich, an Egyptian who lives in São Paulo, has been importing Asfour products for five years now and is expanding his business. Last year saw him open a new shop and start selling customized corporate gifts made from crystals. During a webinar on food security hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Brazilian Food Industry Association, speakers discussed the relevance of investment in agribusiness research and development to ensure local production in the region. Brazil is rolling out a national fertilizer plan. An online course explains the crisis in Lebanon. And African importers, including some from Arab countries, are participating in online B2Bs with Brazilian healthcare companies.

Agribusiness research partnerships a trend for 2021

 | Partnerships for education and research into agricultural technology is an opportunity for Brazil to do more business with the Arab countries. During a webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) this Wednesday (27), Majid Al Qasimi, a partner at UAE consulting firm Soma Mater, said the region is shifting its focus towards domestic food production, with research and development being done to that end. “Education in farming technology is becoming more widespread, in the public and private sectors,” he said.

Lebanon situation the topic of online course

The situation in Lebanon is being addressed in an online course hosted by Brazilian school Integra Educação Avançada and magazine Diáspora. Called “The Crisis in Contemporary Lebanon: Politics, Economy, and Social Protests,” the course started on January 25 and runs until February 1st, but previous classes can still be watched.
