Arabs and Brazilians invest in hydrogen

This Tuesday (13) in your ANBA Bulletin: Green hydrogen is a sustainable energy source that has gained strenght across the world. Brazil and the Arab countries have projects in the field. An agreement signed between the Sohar Port in Oman and the Pecém Complex in Ceará provides for cooperation.

Egypt’s ambassador to Brazil, Wael Aboumagd, carried out a mission to the city of São Paulo last week. The diplomat had meetings with representations of the public and private sector aiming at fostering the Arab country’s relations with São Paulo and Brazil. He was welcomed by governor João Doria.

And footwear exports from Brazil rebounded to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels in the first half of the year. The volume of shipped pairs were similar to those posted in H1 2019.

Brazilian footwear exports rebound to pre-pandemic levels

In the first half of 2021, footwear export returned to the same numbers of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalçados) reported. According to the organization, in H1 2021, footwear exports fetched USD 389 million for 57 million pairs.

Egyptian Ambassador opens dialogues in São Paulo

The Egyptian ambassador to Brasília, Wael Aboumagd, had several appointments this week to start talks with different sectors in São Paulo. “On the business side, the relationship between Brazil and Egypt is going well, but we can do better. On the people-to-people side, we need to work a lot to bring the culture and the arts. At the governmental level, there is a lot of potential, too. Brazil is the leader in this region, and Egypt is the leader in its region. And we should have a much more diverse and dynamic mutual relationship than we have right now. I’m always looking for potential, and I’m never quite satisfied. We always have to do better,” he said in an exclusive interview with ANBA.

Rashid Al-Daif’s ‘Who’s Afraid of Meryl Streep?’ translated

Tabla, a publishing house that specializes in translating and publishing in Brazil works from the Middle East and North Africa, has just released ‘Who’s Afraid of Meryl Streep?’ [‘E Quem é Meryl Streep?’ in the Brazilian title], a novel by Lebanese author Rashid Al-Daif, written in 2001. The translation from Arabic into Brazilian Portuguese is by Felipe Benjamin Francisco. The book is on sale on the publisher’s website in paperback and e-book.
