Osmar Chohfi went to the country’s capital city to talk with representatives of government agencies, entities and diplomats about joint actions focused on Brazil-Arab ties. And the world’s deepest pool has recently opened in Dubai. Deep Dive Dubai has an underwater city at 60 meter deep and 14 million liters of water.

Feast of Sacrifice celebrates end of pilgrimage to Mecca

The Feast of Sacrifice (Eid Al-Adha) this year takes place on July 20, according to the Islamic calendar, still with limitations to prevent the spread of coronavirus. One of the two most significant celebrations for Muslims, along with Eid Al-Fitr, when the Ramadan fast ends, the great feast of the Islamic calendar marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca. It is usually a reason for celebrations with friends and family and prayers in the mosques. About a quarter of the world’s population celebrates Islamic festivities.

Representatives of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) had a series of appointments in Brasília earlier this week to strengthen partnerships and discuss joint actions with government and diplomatic bodies. The mission was led by the new president of the institution, Brazil’s retired diplomat Osmar Chohfi, who took office last April. He participated in the appointments together with ABCC Institutional Relations vice president Mohamad Orra Mourad and CEO & secretary-general Tamer Mansour.

The labor market has changed and will keep changing due to the pandemic. Workers who can speak more than one language, are willing to provide services to companies from other countries, master different digital tools and have high organizational skills will be increasingly demanded in a corporate environment that won’t always have all members of a team together. Companies can benefit from cutting costs, but the new reality will require adjustments and a new legislation.

The emirate of Dubai, known for its luxury and record-breaking giant buildings, has just unveiled the world’s deepest pool. With an underwater city complete with an apartment, garage and arcade, among other settings, at a depth of 60 meters and a total area of 1,500 square meters. Deep Dive Dubai holds 14 million liters of water, the equivalent of six Olympic swimming pools, kept at a temperature of 30⁰C, which is apparently ideal for diving.

Twenty-two airports privatized in São Paulo

The government of São Paulo held on Thursday (15) an auction to sell the concessions of 22 regional airports throughout the state. The airports were divided into two blocks – Northwest and Southeast – and the consortium that won each group is expected to invest in every terminal of the group.

Brazil could have record-breaking trade surplus in 2021

The Brazilian Foreign Trade Association (AEB) made public on Wednesday (14) its forecasts for Brazil’s trade balance this year. According to the AEB, exports could fetch about USD 270.052 billion, a 28.7% increase from the USD 209.817 billion in 2020, and imports would reach approximately USD 202.051 billion, up 27.1% from the USD 158.930 billion achieved in 2020.
