State-run firms to be world’s last oil and gas producers

Talking on energy transition, Petrobras CEO Jean Paul Prates said Wednesday (5) there’s one certainty for state-controlled companies and countries: “We’re on a transition where these oil-producing countries and their state-run companies are likely to be the world’s last oil and gas producers, so they have the responsibility to do so in the most decarbonated, sustainable and developed manner from the standpoint of artificial intelligence, robotics, automation.” He talked at the 8th Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) International Seminar.

Brazil expects record trade surplus in 2023
| |

A slight increase in exports and imports of goods whose prices have declined in recent months led the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil to forecast a record trade surplus in 2023. Surplus is the positive result of a balance of trade, where a country’s exports exceed its imports.

Brazil's oil production up 4% in 2022
| |

Consolidated data for 2022 released by the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP) revealed oil production reached three million barrels a day, with a 4% increase compared to the previous year. Pre-salt oil production reached an average of 2.3 million barrels/day in the year, representing about 76% of Brazil’s total output.

Financial entities improve Brazil's growth forecast

The financial market has improved this year’s growth forecast for Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the eighth time. According to projections from the Focus Bulletin released this Monday (3) by the Brazilian Central Bank, the country is expected to grow by 2.19% in 2023. A week ago, the forecast was at 2.18%. There was also an increase in the GDP estimate for next year, to 1.28%, after 1.22% last week.
