São Paulo – A cornerstone for a truly sustainable growth, the concept of ‘green technology’ has been the focus of product development and service companies. It is about environmentally friendly solutions that generate less waste or use renewable energy sources. Green technology production has been encouraged, for example, by the National Institute of Industrial Property in Brazil, which expedites the registration of these creations through the Green Patent program. Since 2012, the project has received 844 requests and issued 294 letters patent through February 2020.

Impact on food trade seen as not as severe

São Paulo – Foreign trade in Brazil and the world over will take a major hit from the coronavirus crisis. However, the impact will not be even across all industries. So says Brazilian Foreign Trade Association (AEB) chairman José Augusto de Castro, who spoke with ANBA this Wednesday (18). He believes the impact on international shipping of food items might not be as severe as with other industries.

UAE company breaks new ground with pink chocolate

Dubai – Considered by some as the biggest innovation in 80 years when it comes to chocolates, the naturally pink-toned Ruby chocolate is additive-, coloring- and flavoring-free. It was discovered and patented by Belgium’s Barry Callebaut. company, which spent thirteen years mapping out the DNA of cocoa seeds that might yield a pink color. Tariffs waived on medical products

São Paulo – Brazil government promised to waive import tariffs on medical goods until the end of the year as one of the measures announced on Monday (16) to fight coronavirus in the country. This products’ customs clearance will also be prioritized. Another action announced that impacts foreign trade is the temporary relief from Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI, acronym in Portuguese) for imported or domestic goods used to fight Covid-19.
