UAE's prize opens submissions
This Monday (21) in your ANBA Bulletin: The Zayed Sustainability Prize is accepting entries until July 6. The initiative features five categories: health, food, energy, water, and global high schools. Small to medium enterprises, non-profit organizations and high schools with sustainability solutions are invited to submit an entry. Brazil-based JBS opened a fertilizer factory. The company started producing organic, organomineral and special fertilizers from waste in the state of São Paulo. Around 150,000 tonnes will be manufactured per year. And Sudan showcases its features as an agricultural producer and its efforts towards innovation in the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Historical fiction novel ‘Samarkand’ launched in Brazil

The newest release by Brazilian publishing house Tabla, which specializes in Middle Eastern literature, is Samarkand by Lebanese author Amin Maalouf. Written in French in 1988, the volume was translated into Portuguese by Marília Scalzo.

JBS starts fertilizer production in Brazil

JBS, the Brazil-based world leader in protein-based foods, has broken into the fertilizer segment by starting production in a plant in Guaiçara, São Paulo. The enterprise will operate under the name Campo Forte Fertilizantes and was announced on Friday (18) by JBS Novos Negócios.

An agricultural producer, Sudan blazes trail of innovation

To showcase its potential to visitors at Expo 2020 Dubai, Sudan chose to highlight innovative citizens and companies. In the Mobility District, the pavilion of the Arab country at the world exhibition is divided into five galleries, including one focused on youth innovation. The space brings products and solutions from the public and private sectors, educational institutions, individuals, startups, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The innovations follow the Expo’s sub-themes: opportunity, mobility, and sustainability.

UAE steps up egg purchases from Brazil by 50%

The United Arab Emirates, the leading destination of egg exports from Brazil, stepped up by 50% its purchases in the first two months of the year from a year ago, industry association ABPA reported on Thursday (17). The Arab country brought in 3,500 tonnes of eggs from Brazil in January and February.

Dubai to host forum on Latin America

A business forum focused on Latin America will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from March 23 to 24. The Global Business Forum Latin America (GBF Latin America) will explore possibilities for economic cooperation between the UAE and Latin America and the Caribbean region. According to information made public by the organizers, Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro will speak remotely.

Coffee market up 20% in Egypt

The Egyptian coffee market has grown 15% to 20% on average per year. So says Sameh Ghanem, sales director at Abdel Maboud Coffee, a brand of the Egyptian market’s largest coffee producer. According to him, the demand for the product has greatly increased over the last years.
