Arab roots in Brazilian politics

This Monday (27) in your ANBA Bulletin: Arab descendants participate in the Brazilian political scene. Discover the story and the ties of Planning minister Simone Tebet and Rio de Janeiro’s federal deputy Jandira Feghali with the Arab countries. The Day of the Arab Community is celebrated on March 25 in Brazil.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is part of the federal government’s mission to China, a country that has a relevant halal consumption. Secretary-general & CEO Tamer Mansour is part of the delegation led by Agriculture & Livestock minister Carlos Fávaro. President Lula had to postpone the trip to China and the United Arab Emirates due to health issues.

Meet Empório Taybe, which has an online store in Brazil. The firm imports and sells Arab premium food items, particularly from Lebanon, in the Brazilian market. What makes it stand out are its ready-to-eat products.

The ABCC has opened registration for the event on Tuesday (28) on the macroeconomic outlook and investments, which will feature BTG Pactual executives. The goal is to present the state of affairs to be taken into consideration for investment decision making.

Good Alimentos to export quail meat to Arab countries

Good Alimentos, a slaughterhouse based in the municipality of Coronel Freitas, Santa Catarina, Brazil, is about to become the first Brazilian firm to export quail meat to Arab countries. The plan is to perform the first slaughters and exports in the second half of April, Villa Germânia & Good Alimentos CEO Marcondes Moser said. “The first importer of Good Alimentos will be the Middle East market – particularly Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait,” he told ANBA.

Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Jordan lift Brazilian beef ban

‌ BRAZIL-CHINA-EXPORT-BEEF-MEAT-MAD COW

Saudi Arabia, Palestine, and Jordan – the three Arab countries that lifted the ban on Brazilian beef imports. Several countries barred the entry of the product into their markets after an isolated and atypical case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), also known as “mad cow disease,” was reported in the Northern region of Brazil. Two other Arab countries, however, remain among the nations upholding the ban: Qatar and Bahrain. The information was given to ANBA by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Tebet, Feghali, Haddad, Aziz, Kassab, Boulos, Temer, Amin, Maluf, and many others are some of the Arab family names heard in Brazilian politics nowadays, and that passed through the highest positions of the legislative and executive powers of the country. Their presence in Brazilian politics is not just a coincidence. Since the first Syrian-Lebanese diaspora, which began late in the 19th century due to the instability of the Ottoman Empire, Arabs and their descendants conquered space in the country in the most varied fields, being most recognized for their work in trade, healthcare, law, and politics.

Arab Chamber participates in Brazilian mission to China

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is participating in the federal government mission to China. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was expected to head the delegation but had to cancel his participation due to health issues and will have his trip rescheduled. Brazilian minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, will have appointments in the Asian country until next Wednesday (29), accompanied by politicians, businesspeople, and heads of sector entities, including the secretary-general & CEO of the ABCC, Tamer Mansour (pictured above). The mission schedule in the United Arab Emirates that was planned for March 31 with the participation of the Brazilian president will be rescheduled.

Lecture to discuss investment outlook in Brazil

China lifts ban on Brazilian beef imports

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply said the Chinese government decided on Thursday (23) to lift the embargo on Brazilian beef. According to the Ministry, the decision was taken after a meeting between minister Carlos Fávaro and China’s minister of General Administration of Customs, Yu Jianhua, in Beijing.
