Brazilians ask for smaller tax to sell poultry to Morocco
This Monday (16) in your ANBA Bulletin: A mission of the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil visited Morocco. In a meeting with representatives of the local animal protein industry, Brazilian businesspeople that were part of the delegation talked about the tariffs to sell poultry to the Arab country and asked for their help to get lower taxes. Moroccan fertilizer manufacturer OCP plans on opening a factory in Brazil. The plant will be in the state of Maranhão and will manufacture phosphate products based on imports of phosphate rocks from Morocco. And the Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil will hold a mission to nine Arab countries from this week to early June.

The Brazilian federal government will promote a trade mission to ten Arab countries from May 17 to June 6. The trip will be organized by the Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs (SAE) of the Presidency of the Republic, and the delegation will include business people and representatives of associations in the defense, agribusiness, and infrastructure sectors. The Arab countries to be visited will be Morocco, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. A small delegation group will also visit Iraq to fulfill a specific schedule.

This Friday (13), the president of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, passed away at 73. The announcement was made by the country’s state news agency, WAM. The causes were not disclosed, but Sheikh Khalifa, Emir of Abu Dhabi, who suffered a stroke and underwent surgery in 2014, was already out of work and had been fighting for his recovery. His brother, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed, had been handling the day-to-day administration ever since.

Representatives of the Brazilian business sector that are in Morocco accompanying the mission of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil asked the country to cut poultry export tariffs. The group met with industry associations on Thursday (13) in the capital city Rabat.

OCP group, from Morocco, will open a processing unit in Brazil to manufacture phosphate products. The announcement was made this Thursday (12) by the president and CEO of OCP, Mostafa Terrab, at a meeting in Rabat with the minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA) of Brazil, Marcos Montes, who is on an official mission to Morocco.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded its busiest quarter since 2020 from January to March this year. 13.6 million passengers passed through the Emirati airport in the period, indicating an upturn in air traffic in one of the busiest hubs in the world. It is the second consecutive quarter in which the number of travelers on DXB has surpassed 10 million.
