This Thursday (25) in your ANBA Bulletin: Brazil’s Rondônia has an export potential in goods like fish, coffee, cacao and açaí, the lieutenant governor and secretary for Economic Development of Rondônia, Sérgio Gonçalves, told ANBA. Meet companies and businesses from the state of Rondônia that are interested in the foreign market. ANBA reporter Bruna Garcia writes about them in a special coverage of the Rondônia Rural Show in the city of Ji-Paraná. And Brazilian government’s agriculture research agency Embrapa is developing a cultured chicken breast fillet. The laboratory work started last year. The goal is to deliver a prototype by the end of 2023.

Project aims to finish Brazil’s Niemeyer’s work in Lebanon

In Tripoli, Lebanon, one of the buildings designed in the 1960s by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer remains unfinished. This is a reality a group of artists now wants to change. Sociocultural activists came together to create ONE for art JV, the initiative in charge of Projection One. Its goal is to raise funds for rehabilitating the Oscar Niemeyer Experimental Circular Theater, also known as “The Dome.”

Brazil in the race for lab-grown cultured chicken

Demand, sustainability, animal welfare and innovation reasons. There are several drivers for the worldwide search to produce lab-grown poultry products, and Brazil is in the race. One of the projects in the Latin American country is being carried out by the Brazilian government’s agriculture research agency Embrapa, which plans on finishing its cultured chicken breast fillet prototype by the end of the year.

Ascenergy sells Brazil’s largest drone for agriculture

A firm based in Porto Velho, Rondônia, imports agricultural drones from China with its own Brazilian brand. Ascenergy has the sector’s largest drones, the biggest of which holds 72 liters. The company also sells 59- and 30-liter versions. The drones serve for the application of pesticides, planting of grass and rice seeds, and the application of solid or granulated fertilizers. The 72-liter drone is on display at the Rondônia Rural Show Internacional 2023 that’s taking place in Ji-Paraná until Saturday (27).

Egypt’s Oriental Fruits doubles exports to Brazil

Egyptian company Oriental Fruits doubled its exports of garlic and frozen strawberries to the Brazilian market in 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. Wael Soliman, general manager of Oriental Fruits, said the company exports to ten countries in Europe, four in Africa, and five in Asia, in addition to Brazil, and intends to enter more Latin American markets.

Paradise Bakeries, from Jordan, exports traditional cakes and sweets to 15 markets abroad and aims to reach Brazil and Latin America. The company exhibited in a space organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) at the APAS Show 2023, which took place last week in the capital of São Paulo.

Egypt cleared collagen, gelatin exports from Brazil

Egypt has authorized Brazilian imports of two more items: collagen and gelatin, said a statement released last week by Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. According to the information, the authorization came on May 15. The Ministry said sales of gelatin and collagen from any established under the SIF that meet the sanitary requirements and are certified by the IS EG Halal were cleared.

Omani novel on water wins top Arabic fiction prize

Omani poet and novelist Zahran Alqasmi (picture above) was named on Sunday winner of the prestigious International Prize for Arabic Fiction with his book “The Water Diviner”. Alqasmi, 49, will receive $50,000, and the prize committee will provide funding to translate the novel into English, organisers of the annual award said on their website.

Brazilian institute began developing bird flu vaccine

Instituto Butantan has begun developing a vaccine against bird flu. Examinations are being conducted with vaccine strains provided by the World Health Organization (WTO), and the first batch is ready to start pre-clinical examinations, that is, laboratory examinations.
