Arab football fans rooting for Brazil at World Cup
This Monday (21) in your ANBA Bulletin: The World Cup has started in Qatar. The Brazilian national team is one of the favorites for football fans from countries that are not competing, including some Arab nations. And the World Cup opening was celebrated at Brazil’s Football Museum with support from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) The new ambassador from Oman to Brazil, Talal Al-Rahbi, visited the ABCC last week, when he talked to ANBA about his plans on fostering investments and trade between Oman and Brazil. And Brazil’s ambassador to Cairo, Antonio Patriota, and Environment minister Joaquim Leite gave exclusive interviews with ANBA at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, in Egypt. The conference closed on Sunday with an agreement on establishing a fund to compensate vulnerable nations for loss and damage from climate-induced disasters.

Oman has a new ambassador to Brazil, Talal Al-Rahbi, who landed in Brazil three weeks ago seeking to increase investment between the two countries. The diplomat visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in São Paulo this Friday (18), where he spoke with ANBA on his mission for Brazil and Oman to have a greater volume of bilateral investment. At the ABCC, Al-Rahbi was welcomed by director Mohamad Abdouni Neto.

The United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference, COP27, that took place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, closed with a deal on loss and damage, according to a statement made public by the UN. Negotiations stretched into early Sunday (20) morning, after missing their Friday (18) night deadline.

The International Association Football Federation (FIFA) World Cup started on Sunday (20) in Qatar and was celebrated around the world, including a the Football Museum in São Paulo that was supported by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). Visitors gathered in the museum to listen to Arab music and eat typical food of the region on the occasion of the opening of the games. Host country Qatar, whose team faced Ecuador in the inaugural match, is an Arab country in the Gulf.

As soon as the Brazilian national football team debuts in the 2022 World Cup, it won’t be just those who live in Brazil making part of the big crowds of green and yellow fans. The Brazilian team is one of the favorites of foreign fans, including Arabs. This year, Qatar will host the competition to kick off this Sunday (20) and last for 28 days, with the participation of 32 teams. Brazil will play its first match next Thursday (24) against Serbia.

Brazil’s president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva talked on the phone with Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and invited him to visit Brazil, said Brazil’s ambassador to Egypt, Antonio Patriota in an interview with ANBA on the last day of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, held in the resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, on the coastal strip along the Red Sea.

In the last day of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, Brazil’s Environment minister Joaquim Leite talked about the event, the negotiations and Brazil’s commitments, and he praised the alliance between the world’s three largest rainforest nations – Brazil, Congo and Indonesia – to preserve the biome.

A conference in Amman, the capital city of Jordan, on November 27 will discuss the journey of Brazilian Emperor Pedro II to the Holy Land in the 19th century. The lectures will pivot around the exhibition’s theme, “The Trip of Emperor Pedro II of Brazil to the Holy Land in 1876: A collection of Nineteenth Century Photos”, taking place at the National Gallery of Fine Arts of Jordan from November 2 to December 1, 2022.

Brazil’s president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced Thursday (17) during a meeting with the Brazilian civil society at COP27 in Egypt that starting next United Nations Climate Change Conference, the Brazil pavilion will once again bring all Brazilians together, from the public and private sector and the civil society. In recent editions, the civil society had a pavilion that was separate from the Brazilian government pavilion, and so did the Legal Amazon Consortium, which had its own stand.
