This Thursday (4) in your ANBA Bulletin: Exhibition “Back to Egypt” opened earlier this week in Cairo. The show exhibits photos of Egypt from the nineteenth century that were part of a collection owned by emperor Dom Pedro II of Brazil. The material can be seen till November 30 at Gezira Art Center. Brazilian publishing house Tabla won a translation award in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The Turjuman Award was granted for the Portuguese edition of Eleven Planets by Palestinian poet Mahmud Darwich. The translation was carried out by Michel Sleiman. And agricultural exports from Egypt are up, a designer from Egypt participated in an event of the plastic industry in Brazil, and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce are discussing the establishment of a Brazil-Saudi Arabia Business Council.

Plastic is main material in Egyptian designer works

Designer Karim Rashid (pictured above) revealed details about his choice of plastic as primary work material. The Egyptian spoke during the World Plastic Connection Summit this Wednesday (3), with the lecture “The future of design and colors in the new world.” The event is an initiative by Think Plastic Brazil, a partnership between the Brazilian Plastics Institute (INP) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

Brazilian publisher wins translation award in Sharjah

Brazilian publishing house Editora Tabla won a translation award at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) in the United Arab Emirates. The Turjuman Award was given for the publication in Portuguese of the book ‘Eleven planets’ [‘Onze Astros,’ in the local title] by Mahmoud Darwish. The translation of the work was made by Michel Sleiman. The trophy was given to the brand’s chief editor, Laura Di Pietro.

Ambassador opens exhibition on emperor Pedro II in Cairo

In partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the Brazilian ambassador to Cairo, Antonio Patriota, opened an exhibition of photographs entitled “Back to Egypt” last Tuesday (2) in the Egyptian capital. The exhibition features a collection of pictures of Egypt, dating back to the 19th century, owned by the Brazilian emperor Pedro II, who reigned in Brazil from 1831 to 1889 and was the first head of state of the Americas to visit Egypt. Dom Pedro carried out two missions, in 1871 and 1876.

Egypt’s agricultural exports hit 5 million tonnes

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt announced that agricultural exports of the country reached five million tonnes year to date through October 27, up 600,000 tonnes from a year ago.

Leaders of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) discussed on Wednesday (3) in the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce in Riyadh the creation of Brazil-Saudi Arabia Business Council. ABCC president Osmar Chohfi, secretary-general & CEO Tamer Mansour, regional advisor Shaheen Ali Shaheen and Dubai office head director Rafael Solimeo are having appointments for two days in Saudi Arabia.

Brazilian businessman receives UAE golden visa

Brazilian businessman Janguiê Diniz, founder of Ser Educational group and president of Instituto Êxito de Empreendedorismo, received on Wednesday (3) the golden visa of the United Arab Emirates in Dubai. The golden visa is granted to international investors, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, scientists and artists that could contribute to the development of the Arab country.

Algeria exports first gas turbines

Sonelgaz Group announced on Tuesday (2) the export of the first gas turbines manufactured in Algeria, an Arab country in North Africa. According to information released in the official local news agency, Algérie Presse Service (APS), the equipment was produced by GE Algeria Turbines (GEAT), a subsidiary of Sonelgaz in the province of Batna.

Saudis to supply hotels with sustainable food

Saudi Arabia’s sustainable tourism developer, The Red Sea Development Co. (TRSDC), signed an agreement with Red Sea Farms to establish a farm that will sustainably produce food using smart technologies to supply the hotels it is building.
