Urbanization influences dietary habits of Arabs
This Monday (7) in your ANBA Bulletin: The increase in population in large urban centers have influenced how food is consumed in the Arab countries. The topic was addressed during an event held in the city of São Paulo last week. The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, started on Sunday (6) in Egypt. An exhibition on Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II is being held in Jordan. Photographs of his visit to the Arab world can be seen in a gallery in Amman.

Following intense negotiations, loss and damage and climate financing is on the official agenda of the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP27, that is being held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Developing nations — which are at the forefront of climate change — want money to help them cope with the losses they are already facing from climate change rather than just to prepare for future impacts.

The International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) announced that 50 institutions in the country are offering more than 785 scholarships for master’s and doctoral programs for foreign students. This new action is called GCUB International Mobility Program (GCUB-Mob).

Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, landed on Thursday (3) in Bahrain and has since given messages on peace, disarmament, unity, overcoming differences, and prosperity, among other topics, in the meetings he took part. Brazilian families who live in the Arab country in the Gulf attended the mass celebrated by the pope on Saturday (5) for 30,000 people at the Bahrain National Stadium.

The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman is hosting an exhibition on Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II. The exhibition shows photos of the visit of the monarch to the Holy Land in 1876. The exhibition is running from November 2 to December 1, from 9 am to 5 pm (ADT), except Fridays.

Financing for sustainable actions will be one of the pivotal subjects of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP27), informed the executive manager for Environment and Sustainability of the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), Davi Bomtempo, who will participate in the event in Egypt. Reduction of emissions, climate adaptation, regulation of the carbon market, and transparency of processes are the other points the CNI delegation will follow at COP27, to take place from November 6 to 18 in Sharm El Sheikh.

In their quest for economic diversification, Arab countries are undergoing structural changes in various areas. According to Sotirios Ghinis, expert in Economics of the Market Intelligence department of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), one of the drivers of this change is the growing urbanization that has influenced new eating habits.
