Vaccine rollout stages economic recovery in Kuwait

Kuwait has seen an economic recovery as COVID-19 vaccination rolls out. So says a report made public on Wednesday (20) by International Monetary Fund (IMF). According to the report, about 80% of the target population in the country had been at least partially vaccinated and over 70% fully vaccinated as of mid-September 2021. This helped significantly slow the pace of infection, allowing for a pickup in economic activity.

Brazil could turn to imported fuel

Brazil could increase fuel imports to avoid a national shortage in November. An alarm was raised in the market after Brazilian oil company Petrobras reported earlier this week that it will not fulfill all gasoline and diesel orders for the next month, which came over 10% and 20%, respectively, over its supply capacity.

Arab Chamber to carry out joint actions with Bahrain, GCC

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) will carry out a series of joint actions with institutions from Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to bring Brazil closer to the Arab nation and the region. The institution’s president, ambassador Osmar Chohfi; the secretary-general and CEO, Tamer Mansour; and the regional advisor for the countries of the GCC, Iraq, and Yemen, Shaheen Ali Shaheen, visited Manama, the Bahraini capital, where they met with local business leaders this Wednesday (20).

Brazil’s science minister seeks investment for space sector

During his visit to the United Arab Emirates, the Brazilian minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, astronaut Marcos Pontes, is showing his country’s potential in cutting-edge sectors, such as space, and seeking to attract investments in the area to the country. He spoke this Tuesday (19) at the ‘Brazil – UAE Business Seminar on Innovation,’ held by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in partnership with the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP).

Egyptian dates present in 63 foreign markets

Dates grown in Egypt were exported to 63 foreign markets last year despite the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Amjad El-Qadi, executive director of the Food Industries Technology Center at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the country. Egypt has pursued a strategy to encourage local cultivation of more internationally demanded date cultivars.

Agilise goes beyond hair straightening in the Arab market

Brazilian hair cosmetics brand Agilise has already earned space in the straightening market in Arab countries and is now moving into new segments in the region, such as care for wavy and curly hair. In a show in the United Arab Emirates this month, two of the company’s most successful products were an anti-frizz and another for curls.

Brazil’s Immigration Museum, UNHCR to screen Egyptian film

The Immigration Museum of the State of São Paulo will screen from Friday (22) to Saturday (23) four films on refuge. They include Egyptian long feature Captains of Zaatari that can be watched on Friday at 9 pm. The initiative is a partnership with UN refugee agency UNHCR as part of the 45th São Paulo International Film Festival that will run from October 21 through November 3.

Lebanon the topic of lecture in São Paulo

The Center for Arab Culture of Esporte Clube Sírio in São Paulo, Brazil, will host on Saturday (23) a lecture on Lebanon with Natalia Calfat, a PhD student in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (USP). The topic will be “Lebanese Politics: Origins and Developments of Confessionalism.” The lecture will start at 4 pm in Sala Palmira. Admission is free.
