This Monday (25) in your ANBA Bulletin: Brazilian agricultural technology companies have recently gained prominence in Dubai. Raks and KrillTech participated with other Brazil-based startups in GITEX innovation exhibit and were shortlisted for its Supernova Challenge. A mission of São Paulo-based companies to the United Arab Emirates has begun. Investe SP agency opened the program with a seminar on Sunday (24) with the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. Representatives of 32 companies from the state are seeking business in the Arab country. And Brazilians will have access to another book by famous Palestinian poet Mahmud Darwich. Tabla publishing house launched in Portuguese Memory for Forgetfulness last week.

São Paulo-based companies seeking business in UAE

A group of 42 representatives of 32 São Paulo-based companies across different industries is pursuing investments and business internationalization in the emirates of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah together with São Paulo’s Investment Promotion Agency (Investe SP), which is also seeking for investments and public-private partnerships (PPPs) for the state in sectors such as infrastructure, tourism and culture.

Brazil’s Tabla releases third book by Mahmoud Darwish

Publishing house Tabla, specialized in authors from the Middle East, especially original works in Arabic, launched a new title this Friday (22). The book ‘Memory for Forgetfulness’ [‘Memória para o esquecimento,’ in the Brazilian title] is the third by Mahmoud Darwish to be released by the Brazilian publisher.

Brazilian startup Jade Autism has platform in Arabic

A Brazilian company creating gamified technologies for the development of children and teenagers with autism; this is Jade Autism, one of the Brazilian startups that participated in the 2021 edition of Gitex Future Stars, the largest startup show in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region. It was the company’s second participation in the show at the Brazil Pavilion, organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), which this year brought ten startups. In last year’s edition, in December, Jade won the Supernova award in the Best Social and Environmental Impact category.

Brazilian agritechs stood out in Dubai

Two agriculture technology startups stood out in the latest edition of GITEX Future Stars, a startup exhibit that took place earlier this week in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Raks and Krilltech were shortlisted for the Supernova award, where startups from all over the world competed. They were both showcasing their services in Brazil pavilion at GITEX, which featured eight other companies – Biosolvit, TNS Nano, Trakto, Dersalis, Jade Autismo, Tactic Up, Predify, and Asel Tech.

Decree creates Brazilian embassy in Bahrain

A decree signed by Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro on Wednesday (20) published on the Official Gazette on Thursday (21) created the Brazilian embassy in Manama, Bahrain. Until then, Brazil didn’t have a resident diplomatic mission in the Arab Gulf country, and Bahrain was cumulatively represented by the Embassy of Brazil in Kuwait City, Kuwait.

Embassy of Palestine receives leaders of Rio Grande do Sul

The Embassy of Palestine in Brasília received earlier this week representatives of Rio Grande do Sul, the Brazilian state that concentrates the largest community of Palestinian and descendants. Mayors, presidents of associations of municipalities, and congressmen met ambassador Ibrahim Alzeben and discussed the immigration and friendship ties that bring Palestine and Brazil, particularly Rio Grande do Sul, together.

Egypt among most attractive markets for renewable energy

Egypt advanced one position in the ranking of the most attractive countries for investment in the renewable energy sector, according to an index released by Ernst & Young for October. The survey shows that, out of 40 countries, Egypt occupied the 19th position, reaching 57.8 points, moving up from 20th place in May this year. Among the Arab nations, Egypt ranked second, just behind Morocco.
