The trade mission to Egypt that Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) are organizing for November 13 and 14 is the highlight of the ANBA Bulletin of this Wednesday (10). Yesterday (09), representatives for 80 companies attended the launching event for the initiative at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo. “This scenario of recovery and globalization of Egypt’s economy should lead to a rebound in imports and therefore to new business opportunities,” said Itamaraty’s Trade and Investment Promotion Department Orlando Leite Ribeiro. Organizers are looking to include in the delegation entrepreneurs from the fields of home and construction, healthcare, agribusiness, food and beverages, machinery and equipment. Qatar Petroleum, Qatar’s state-owned oil company, is planning to increase its oil and gas output by 35%, from the current 4.8 million barrels per day (bpd) to 6.5 million bpd in eight years. The company will include its operations across the world in the effort to increase its production capacity, including Brazil, where it acquired three exploration and production blocks in less than a year. “The new expansion project will give us the extended ability and flexibility to meet additional global demand while further boosting Qatar Petroleum’s strategic growth plans,” said the company’s president and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi.
