This Monday (28) in your ANBA Bulletin: Brazil’s company Adélia Mendonça achieved the halal certification for its cosmetics. The company specializes in skin care products and serves both the professional market – clinics and spas – and the end consumer. Now halal certified, the company seeks to expand into the Arab countries. The Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries will feature a business area. Hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, the event will take place online from October 19 to 22. In addition to debates, it will feature an exhibition environment for participants to network. And Brazilians are harvesting wheat in a semiarid area in Ceará, in Northeast Brazil. The project was developed by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in partnership with milling company Santa Lúcia.

 | The Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries will take place online from October 19 to 22, featuring a networking and business area. In addition to discussions with authorities and experts from both regions, the event will feature a virtual environment showcasing Brazilian and Arab brands, where participants will be able to interact and share information. The Forum will be hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).

Wheat has been harvested in Ceará, a dry state with scant water resources in Northeast Brazil, for the first time in history. The farming project was developed by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in partnership with milling company Santa Lúcia. The first stage took place in a semiarid area, with a fast planting-to-harvest cycle and high yields.

The Brazilian company Adélia Mendonça Cosmetics has achieved Brazil’s first halal certification in the cosmetics sector. The 16-year-old company now focus on expanding its business into the Arab countries. The certification applies for all lines produced by the company, whose portfolio features 150 items manufactured in its own factory. The company plans on exporting up to 15 products from different segments to three Arab countries.

Incoming foreigners are allowed into all Brazilian airports again. The decision was published by the federal government in an extra edition of the Federal Gazette on Thursday (24), and it applies to foreign citizens of any nationality. However, restrictions remain in place concerning entry by land, including roads, and waterways.

Saudi Arabia said this week it will gradually allow pilgrims to take the Umrah, newspaper Arab News reported in its website. The Umrah is a pilgrimage Muslims can make to the Grand Mosque in Mecca any time of year. The biggest Muslim pilgrimage is the Hajj, which takes place each year at stipulated dates.

 | Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro sanctioned this Friday (25) Law 14,060, which allows for the exceptional extension of duty drawbacks for one year. Drawbacks enable the suspension, exemption or lifting of duties on imports or domestic purchases of inputs employed or consumed in the processing of products for export.
