This Tuesday (25) in your ANBA Bulletin: Brazilian beach fashion brand Blue Man – established in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, in 1972 – has exported since the 1980s, and it has become popular in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon, to where it ships swimsuits and swimwear cover-ups. Minas Gerais-based meatpacker Plena Alimentos exports to Arab countries and has invested in processed goods like mince and meat balls to cater to the international market. The company is halal certified. Brazilian researcher Roberto Khatlab wrote an article on newspapers, magazines and books by the first the Arab immigrants in Brazil as part of the Arab Renaissance. |

In two trips to Lebanon in 2013 and 2015, Brazilian film producer Vitor Graize was welcomed by relatives in the region of Mount Lebanon, in Btater, the hometown village of his great-grandfather who had emigrated to Brazil in the early twentieth century. There he photographed the daily life of his family and the local Druze community. And so came into existence the photobook Vir de tão longe [To come from so far away], which is on pre-sale online and will be launched Tuesday (25) in Vitória, Espírito Santo.
