Neida Freitas crafts women’s accessories and sculptures using sustainable materials at a studio in Rio de Janeiro. Her brand’s name, Chames Bio, comes from a Lebanese immigrant who led her family’s move to Brazil.
Dubai welcomes 3.67 million visitors in 2024. The city recorded an increase of 18% in arrivals of tourists in January and February compared to the same period last year, according to the local tourism authority.
Arabic literature highlights win awards. The winners of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award (SZBA) have been announced, including authors from Egypt and Tunisia.

On Thursday (4) in Abu Dhabi, the winners of the 18th Sheikh Zayed Book Award, one of the most prestigious Arabic awards, were announced. The event is held by the Abu Dhabi Language Centre (ALC), an arm of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

Dubai welcomes 3.67 million visitors in 2024

Dubai welcomed 3.67 million overnight visitors in January-February 2024, with an increase of over 18 percent year-on-year (YoY), figures released by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) showed Friday, 5th. According to the DET’s Tourism Performance Report for January-February 2024, Dubai recorded 1.77 million international visitors in January, and 1.9 million in February.

Arab matriarch inspires luxury brand in Brazil

With a sustainable business proposition and a name inspired by a Lebanese matriarch, the Brazilian biojewelry and sculpture brand Chames Bio is looking to shoot past the boundaries of the domestic market. This Rio de Janeiro-based studio crafts luxury items sold at auteur stores across Brazil, and it has two overseas expansion targets in mind: the Arab countries and Europe.
