The Brazilian Confederation of Goods Trade, Services, and Tourism and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will create a work plan in the field. Brazil's imports have increased. Experts say the products sustaining the growth are directly linked to inventory replacement by the industry and commodities segments.
A subsidiary of Minerva Foods meat processing company, Athena Foods has expanded its exports to the Middle East, and Brazilian cosmetic exports have grown.

Rising imports a sign of Brazil’s new economic moment

Brazil saw a surplus in foreign trade at USD 45.9 billion, with exports at USD 167.5 billion and imports at USD 121.5 billion. But this year’s imports are rising and not just in value – what would be explained by the appreciation of the U.S. dollar or 2020 being an atypical year. In fact, Brazil is importing more than in 2019.

Athena Foods increases beef exports to Middle East

he Middle East became an expanding destination for exports fom Athena Foods, a subsidiary that brings together operations of Brazilian meat processing company Minerva Foods in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Colombia. The region had a 10% share of Athena’s international sales in the last 12 months until June this year; this share was 7% in the previous 12 months, representing a 3% increase.

Brazilian cosmetics sector exports up 16%

The Brazilian toiletry, perfume, and cosmetic products sector exported USD 332.7 million in the first half of this year, a 16% increase over the same period in 2020. The data were released this Wednesday (11) by the Brazilian Toiletry, Perfume and Cosmetics Industry Association (ABIHPEC).

Brazil preparing to become halal tourism hub

Brazil already has some halal-certified tourist establishments but will implement a national plan to prepare the industry to welcome Muslim tourists. The project was kickstarted on Wednesday (11) in an online workshop hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and Brazil’s National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services, and Tourism (CNC).

Arab countries won five gold medals at Olympics

The Arab countries that competed in the Tokyo Olympics won five gold, five silver and eight bronze medals, in a total of 18, according to the competition’s official table. The accomplishments came from Qatar, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Syria. The schedule started officially on July 23 and ended this Sunday (8).

Second-largest Saudi poultry producer plans expansion

Tanmiah Food Co., the second-largest poultry producer in Saudi Arabia, has plans to take its halal products to new markets. The initiative was announced after last week’s initial public offering (IPO), in which the company raised SAR 402 million, equivalent to about USD 107 million at the current rate. An IPO is when a company’s shares are sold to the public for the first time.

Egypt moves pharaoh’s ship to new museum

n the early hours of last Saturday (7), the Grand Egyptian Museum received a ship belonging to pharaoh Khufu, also known as Cheops. The vessel, 42 meters long and weighing 20 tonnes, was moved from the pyramids’ antiquities area to the museum, which is under construction and is expected to open later this year.
